Conversation promotes understanding, was the advertising slogan for a telephone company a few years ago. The company no longer exists, but the slogan still holds. A good conversation helps us understand ourselves, each other and the world. If only we can find the time, energy and interest. Not soon, but now. Whether you need a quick chat or a deeper dialogue. Even before a conversation starts, the first problem appears. We must get ready to talk together. Each of us may have had something else going on, which can be difficult to put down. Now the mindset and attention must be focused on being an active part of a "predominantly verbal exchange of information between two people". How to do it? How to prepare for a conversation and conduct it in a way that satisfies both parties. Through many years as a teacher and management consultant, Laust has used conversation as one of his most important tools. Along the way, a model has emerged that can help everyone remember what to do when they're in the middle of it, with a conversation that starts now. It's called L.E.A.R.N. It's short for: Listen, Engage, Appreciate, Resonate, Navigate. If you can practice these five things in a free and unforced way, you are guaranteed a good conversation, both in terms of experience and benefit. The workshop basically looks like this: • Introduction to the day • Conversation is no art • The road to L.E.A.R.N. • Learn it letter by letter • Practice, practice, practice • That's what we learned and created • End of the day The participants get the opportunity to practice conversations based on personal and current topics. The workshop is best carried out over a full day, but half a day is better than nothing
