Razan Haugaard is a Kurdish refugee from Iraq. At the age of 13, she was married in an arranged marriage to an older man. As a 17-year-old in 1990, she fled Iraq and came to Denmark with her husband and their two small children. Today, she is the mother of four children, has been through two divorces and has taken courses and made a career at the same time. Razan works in the area of integration, especially with refugees in job-oriented courses. She develops and delivers services to the country's municipalities and job centres, and she collaborates with many companies on integration programs for refugees in Denmark. The majority of the work consists of outlining solutions and doing stakeholder analyses, determining strategies and drawing up implementation plans, just as Razan is often responsible for the actual management of the process.

In 2020, Razan published the book "It's women like me, they call victims" written by author Dorte Hygum Sørensen.

Razan Haugaard er kurdisk flygtning fra Irak. Hun blev som 13-årig gift ved et arrangeret ægteskab med en ældre mand. Som 17-årig i 1990, flygtede hun fra Irak og kom til Danmark med sin mand og deres to små børn. I dag er hun mor til fire børn, har været gennem to skilsmisser og sideløbende taget uddannelser og gjort karriere. Razan arbejder med integrationsområdet, især med flygtninge i jobrettede forløb. Hun udvikler og leverer ydelser til landets kommuner og jobcentre, og hun samarbejder med rigtig mange virksomheder om integrationsprogrammer for flygtninge i Danmark. Størstedelen af arbejdet består i at skitsere løsninger og lave interessentanalyser, fastlægge strategier og udfærdige implementeringsplaner, ligesom Razan ofte står for selve ledelsen af processen.

I 2020 udgav Razan bogen “Det er kvinder som mig, de kalder ofre” skrevet af forfatter Dorte Hygum Sørensen.

It is about love, cultural differences and social control when Razan Haugaard opens up his life story.

Journalist Dorte Hygum Sørensen has followed Razan for a year and written a book about a woman who refuses to see herself as a victim. Razan Haugaard's journey from Iraq to Denmark started when her family married her off to a Kurdish freedom fighter at the age of just 13. Razan became a mother at the age of 14 and today has 4 children. Not long after the wedding, Razan and her husband were driven away. An escape that included two births and took her to the neighboring country of Iran, before she set foot on Danish soil for the first time as a 17-year-old. What might seem like a hopeless situation would turn out to be the beginning of a story of formation, where a young woman defied social control and took her destiny into her own hands. Education and the courage to take care of one's own life were Razan's most important paths to his own integration.

The way in which communication takes place with citizens who do not have a western origin is of great importance to whether we achieve our goals through a joint effort. Mechanisms that are determined by culture and/or religion require a pre-understanding in order for the communication to function optimally and at the same time require a responsibility from both parties in relation to whether the message comes across as we want.

It can be of great importance that one understands how both the perception of pain and the view of disability depend on the individual's background, how one was brought up and which culture we were brought up in. Often the upbringing differs for those who have a non-Western background, from the norms and cultures we in the western world bring up our children according to. If you do not have a broader understanding of this, it can complicate cooperation, for example, in relation to children of parents who do not have a Western background.

In this workshop, the focus will be on passing on current content in a vivid and present way. Participants are encouraged to bring cases. Razan Haugaard starts from these and will discuss and work towards a solution together with the participants.

The workshop is based on Action Learning/Design Thinking, which means that the trainer will help the participants learn and observe the experiences they make while collaborating internally.

In this 2-day workshop, there will be an alternation between presentations and practical exercises.

There is a limited number of participants of a maximum of 20 people.
