Jim Latrache-Qvortrup had a difficult upbringing. Due to challenging personal circumstances, he struggled with school from an early age and ended up in a foster family. Having never learned to read or write, Jim felt that he was unfit for education and that education was not for him. Without an education, Jim had a limited number of career options, and this led to a chaotic adult life, during which he ended up becoming a criminal for a number of years. The criminal career could not continue, and he was imprisoned and sentenced to 8 years. By this time his wife was pregnant with their son and she gave him an ultimatum; get an education or i'll leave you. Since then, Jim has never looked back. He began developing his basic language skills by exchanging letters with his wife for a year. Every day he would write her a letter from his prison cell, and every day she would write back and send his letters back with corrections of spelling and grammatical errors. In prison, Jim did not experience much in his everyday life, and in order to have something to tell his wife about, he started reading books. Something that he had never done before in his life. He read about world history and religions and told her about what he had learned. Within two years, Jim was attending high school self-study from his jail cell. Together, Jim and his wife devised new methods that enabled him to study and learn despite his challenges of being dyslexic and diagnosed with ADHD. Jim was so successful in his studies that he finished high school with an average high enough to get him into Psychology at the University of Copenhagen, where he continues to study. In addition, he is an entrepreneur with a specialist in coaching and founder of the innovative members' club, Kontoret.
