Arnold Schwarzenegger was California's 38th governor from 2003 to 2011. In addition to his political heyday, he has also had a highly successful career as a professional bodybuilder, actor, producer, director, investor and author. One of his major achievements as governor was to help introduce the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 – a bipartisan agreement to combat global warming by reducing California's greenhouse gases. The following projects can also be mentioned: - the Hydrogen highway - the Million Solar Roofs Initiative - the Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act In addition, signed agreements on i.a. to increase aid to schools by up to $700 million, including making the school lunch program in California one of the most progressive. Related to this, he simultaneously introduced extensive support programs for further education for the students. In 1990, he was awarded the title of Chair of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Among his many awards, he also received the "National Leadership Award" under the Simon Wiesenthal Center for his support of the organization's Holocaust studies. In 2002 he also received the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award. For his film achievements he received, among other things, a Golden Globe for Best Newcomer for his role in Stay Hungry (1976). From his impressive film career, he is probably best remembered for Conan the Barbarian (1982) and The Terminator (1984).
