Arne Christensen is 70 years old, blind, and a passionate cross-country runner. In 2016, he was the first blind person to complete the world's hardest skiing race, the Arctic Circle Race, and he will now be the first blind person to ski to the South Pole – 111 km from the 89th south latitude to the South Pole. It's big and wild and almost unimaginable! …but the goal is set! During his many years as a social worker at the Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Arne Christensen has learned that many blind people have a low belief in their own possibilities and need role models to look up to when they have to create visions for their own lives. He is a role model for other blind people, and will promote the sighted's knowledge of what blind people can do. * He will show blind people the importance of daring to set high goals for themselves. * He wants to show that blind people can also participate in extreme sports. * He wants to show that all people have resources.
