We live in a time where science fiction is transformed into science fact every week, and there is an insane amount of positive development in the world, not least in the fields of energy and climate - where the speed of development in particular is worth keeping an eye on. There are very exciting things to talk about from recent years, for example the development within climate justice. But one of the most important trends in 2022, according to Denis Rivin, was the following: Advancing climate ambitions. The trend is partly rooted in the political reality with an increased focus on energy independence and partly in the unstoppable technological and scientific breakthroughs that surround renewable energy. The trend should both alleviate fear of the future among people with climate anxiety - and give business leaders and politicians food for thought. Here are 4 examples from 2022: 1) General Motors has brought forward the goal of running all US facilities on renewable energy to 2025: This is 5 years earlier than their goal from 2021 – and 25 years earlier than their goal from 2016. 2) The International Energy Agency has upgraded its own assessment of the amount of renewable energy expected to be installed in the world in the coming years by 76% – compared to the agency's assessment just two years ago. 3) The EU now expects the member states to get 63% of their electricity from renewable energy in 2030 – in 2019 the expectation was 55%. 4) Austria has advanced the phasing out of gas boilers in new buildings from 2025 to 2023. This inspirational presentation presents some of the most interesting advances in the field of energy and climate from the past year, confirming that very good things are actually happening on the climate front. Not to lull people to sleep with good news, but to use evidence of positive transformation in the world as fuel to further accelerate development!
