The art of being able to fall safely & stand stronger!

Life is never a straight line, we fall, get up and should learn from it. Unfortunately, however, this is not always the case when we talk about fall prevention. Very often the approach is instead we have to do EVERYTHING we can to avoid falling. Unfortunately, this approach leads to - increased fear, shame, inactivity and more falls. Instead, we should learn to fall in a way that minimizes injury and increases our confidence. This lecture is about how we can learn to fall safely and reduce the risk of injury. We will explore what a fall is, how to reduce fear and understand how to fall in a way that minimizes injury. We will also talk about what good balance is, how an increased level of activity can help to strengthen balance and reduce the risk of both falling and getting injured - it will be both fun and educational. Mathias Krabholm has a background as a judo athlete and will use his own personal stories and bodily experiences to teach techniques for learning to fall safely. Why different falls will also be shown. "We often mistakenly view the body as if it were a broken teacup, once it's broken it can't be fixed. However, the body is a tool that has always grown in resistance, it requires more than just focusing on the physical and what we can see - the body is anti-fragile." During the lecture you/we will lean into the fear and understand what a fall is. It will help us understand how to fall safely and reduce the risk of injury. The goal of this lecture is to help you learn how to fall safely and stand stronger. We are sure that you will take home some useful techniques and tools that you can use to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
